Kirk's Space: Between the Ears

One of the most interesting parts of living in Singapore is the huge diversity of authentic foods.  I've started a food photo album to post some of the dishes I come across and some ones worth trying to build at home - like this one, my attempt at the Korean Bi Bim Bap.  The spicy Korean hot sauce really makes this dish - and as you can see it's a healthy one too.   

It doesn't happen often for those of us who track technology closely, but every now and again you come across something in the technology space that make you go WOW...this is one of those things.  Watch the video of how it works here...

I think I've just experienced my first quake!!!  I was in a meeting on the 19th floor in the Singapore office when the whole building shook, not enough to move stuff about on the desks, but enough for everyone in cubicle land to stand up.  Indonesia is the likely suspect, hope there's no Tsunami, no news as of yet on the wires...

A busy week ahead, presenting to a customer in NZ (via VTC), progress review with the folks in Redmond, move into my new apartment and kickoff a project with 2 external vendors.

I got my new phone and signed up for a local mobile number today, so look for the updated contact info shortly.  I'm not cooking tonight cos I need to become an expert before I do this customer call - so it's a PC dinner tonight, Sushi from downstairs...yum.  

No I haven't released an album, I just received my Employment Pass, the little strip of plastic that makes me visible to native singaporeans.  All I need to do is hold it up in front of me, and there I am...I can get a bank account, mobile phone number, and even connect the gas.  

A tip for you expat wanna be bank robbers...leave you EP at home, then rob the bank - then you can nip in, grab the cash and no one will see you.  I went to the bank last week before I had the EP - stupid man.

Wow what an week of fun and Redness, it's like Christmas without the presents - kind of cool.  Chinese New Year is bigger here than the Big Pineapple, the Big Orange and the Big Rockinghorse combined!!

I was less than stellar in my organization to get amongst the action for the most part - there were lots of activities on, including a lunch provided at work on Friday complete with dragon dancers which I missed.  In fact I even missed the Dragon Dancers parade through the office, although I was in a meeting upstairs and I could hear the drums on the floor below!! 

I did make the Chingay parade on Orchard Rd on Saturday night, which marks the end of Chinese New Year - Enjoy the pics...
